EPA-RTP New Campus: This is the home web page for the EPA's new campus at the Research Triangle Park, NC. The new facility is scheduled for completion in January, 2001. It will replace a number of scattered buildings currently leased by the EPA.
EPA-RTP New Campus Environmental Features: This page discusses why "green" buildings are important and how the new EPA facility's green design was accomplished. It also lists key environmental features of the new facility.
EPA/APPCD Indoor Environment Management Branch: The IEMB researches to better understand relationships between indoor air quality (IAQ) and emissions sources, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and air cleaning devices.
NIEHS/EPA Grounds Committee: The EPA's future RTP Campus will be located directly adjacent to the current NIEHS Campus. This Committee assists in managing the NIEHS and future EPA grounds in an environmentally sensitive way.


NIEHS Related Links

NIEHS Environmental Awareness Advisory Committee (EAAC): This committee promotes environmental awareness and conservation of the environment at the NIEHS's RTP campus. It has worked intensively on recycling, carpooling, employee transit subsidies, saving electricity costs, and many other environmental issues.
NIEHS Recycling Program : This innovative recycling program was selected for national recognition in 1995. The NIEHS EAAC lists recycling tips on this page.
Land Management Plan for NIEHS:The NIEHS EAAC submitted this plan to manage the NIEHS RTP site for naturally occurring flora and fauna.
NIEHS Fishing Policy & Lake Rules:The NIEHS's Lake Committee oversees the research and recreational use of the NIEHS South Campus lake. The new EPA Campus will be located on the opposite shore of this lake.
Control of Geese at NIEHS: A subcommittee from the EAAC and the Grounds Committee came up with this plan for the control of geese on the NIEHS Campus.

NC Dept. of Environmental & Natural Resources : The NCDENR serves as lead stewardship agency to preserve and protect North Carolina's natural resources.
NC Div. of Pollution Prevention & Environmental Assistance : DPPEA provides N.C. industries, local governments, and state agencies with free technical assistance on cost-effective ways to eliminate, reduce, or recycle waste and conserve resources.
NCDOT Adopt-A-Highway Program: The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) established this program which utilizes volunteers to remove litter along the state's highways.
Triangle Transit Authority: The TTA operates a regional bus line with connector shuttles, a buspool and vanpool service, and a rideshare matching service. It is developing a regional rail system that will link the Triangle together.
UNC Environmental Resource Program (ERP) : The ERP serves to promote environmental stewardship and public health through education, research, and community service.

Audobon Society: Founded in 1905, the National Audubon Society serves to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

Plants Reduce Air Pollution (NASA site) : NASA Study shows common plants help reduce indoor air pollution.
Sierra Club: Founded in 1892, the Sierra Club promotes the responsible enjoyment and use of the earth's ecosystems and resources.
US DOE Green Buildings: The U.S. Dept. of Energy promotes green buildings under its Center of Excellence for Sustainable Development.
US Green Building Council: This organization's mission is to accelerate the adoption of green building practices, technologies, policies, and standards within the building industry. It is composed of more than 300 leading international organizations.
