Green Building Challenge ‘98 
The Green Building Challenge ‘98 is a two-year international assessment process of green buildings culminating in an international conference and sponsored
by CANMET Energy Technology Centre, other Canadian and international agencies and the Green Building Information Council.

Department of Energy's Center of Excellence for Sustainable Development 
The Center helps communities design and implement innovative strategies that enhance the local economy as well as
the local environment and quality of life. The new Center of Excellence shows how sustainable development is being practiced by
other urban and rural communities across the nation and provides an internet "tool kit" of sustainable information including
manuals, workbooks, data bases, case studies and model codes and ordinances, etc.

US Green Buildings Council 
This is a component of the US Green Buildings Council's homepage. It contains
a priority program of the US Green Building Council entitled "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). LEED is a
voluntary, consensus-based, market-driven building rating system based on existing proven technology that evaluates environmental
performance from a "whole building" perspective over a buildings life cycle. LEEDT is intended to be a definitive standard for what
constitutes a "green building."

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's Building Science Energy & Environment Division's Energy Crossroads Center. This sitet organizes a wide array of pointers to

North Carolina Green Buildings Council 
It contains a current listing of greenbuilding activiites in North Carolina as well as a comprehensive resource for finding green
building products in North Carolina and across the nation. The directory is divided into building product categories and a searchable
online green product database is available.

National Park Service's Sustainable Design and Construction Database 
The database has approximately 1300 product listings from over 550 manufacturers, listings of
over 7000 recyclers of construction debris nationwide, and expanded listings of books, periodicals, organizations, and on-line
(Internet) sources of sustainable information.

Green Light 
Green Lights was officially launched on January 16, 1991. The program's goal is to prevent pollution by encouraging U.S.
institutions to use energy-efficient lighting technologies.There were originally 39 Charter members from major U.S. corporations, but
today the partnership has expanded to include public and private organizations of all sizes. This is site also provides access to
EPA's Enviro$en$e.

Howard Associates 
It presents a green building "primer" intended for consumers, builders and realtors. The material provides a
starting point for further exploration of the topic and increase the reader's ability to ask the right questions. The author of
this material is Bion Howard, a former builder and environmental scientist. This article was developed as a result of work done for

Federal Register, 40 CFR Part 247 
"Comprehensive Guideline for Procurement of Products Containing Recovered Materials; Proposed Rule and Notice." This is is an amendment to the
May 1, 1995 Comprehensive Procurement Guideline (CPG) in which EPA designaes 13 new items that are or can be made with recovered
materials. The CPG implements a section of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This section requires EPA to designate
items that are or can be produced with recovered materials and to recommend practices for the procurement of designated items by
procuring agencies.

NRC CNRC IRC Information Service 
This a list of publications, organizations, bibliographic databases and codes
and standards pertaining to green architecture. It is not a complete bibliographies, but it providea an introduction to the literature
and identify resources available forfurther research. Check the Pathfinder list at the end of the bibliography for additional information
on green buildings. Pathfinders typically contain references to IRC publications as well as other published documents.
