Site Management Advisory Committee
- Completely volunteer
- Invite NIEHS participation
- Total exterior concerns; not just grounds, but what
the facility emits into the air, effluents, what goes in
drains; total eco concern
- Can provide help to facilities staff in writing
contract proposals; i.e., for grounds maintenance, waste
handling, etc.
- Promote good stewardship of facility
- Separate committee from the EAC; work more
closely with facilities management staff
- Include volunteers with differing concerns
- Not just the tree-huggers and eco preservers
- Also those wanting walking trails, biking
trails, recreational facilities outside
- Some ideas of things we might do
- The committee might identify trees,
wildflowers on the site; tag as well as put on web site
- Could do some actual planting in the egg
area.
- Encourage educational opportunities of
facilities staff NOW on environmentally-friendly
alternatives to pesticides, herbicides, etc.
