Wiping

General Information

  • Wipe cleaning is usually done manually.

  • Wipe cleaning is best suited for nonrepetitive operations.

  • Wipe chemicals may be acidic, alkaline, or solvent-based.

  • Wipe materials may be common sponge or cloth or may be a more sophisticated material such as polyvinyl alcohol.

  • Repetitive use of wiping within a manufacturing process may indicate a possibility for process flow or materials storage improvements.
