Commercial Toilet Rebate Program
Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Commercial Toilet Rebates?
SPU and your local water utility are offering commercial customers (business and industry) rebates to install water-saving toilets and urinals in their buildings and facilities.

Who qualifies?
You can qualify for rebates to replace toilets and urinals if:
• You have the authority to change bathroom equipment in your facility.
• You are a customer of Seattle Water or one of the participating Local Water Providers.
• Your building was built before 1992 and your equipment uses 3.5 or more gallons per flush (gpf).

What equipment qualifies and how much are the rebates?
All fixtures must be Washington state approved and certified.
You'll receive up to:
• $60 for installing each 1.6 gpf tank-type toilet.
• $120 for installing each flush valve fixture
(valves must be 1.6 gpf for toilets and 1.0 gpf or less for urinals).
• Note: The amount rebated will not exceed your total replacement costs (purchase + installation).

How much can I save on utility bills?
You can save $40-130 per year on your water and sewer bills for each fixture replaced, depending on how often each fixture is flushed.

How do I apply?
Call (206) 684-4150 for a program application. Once we verify your eligibility, we'll contact you about your project.

What other steps will I need to take?
After qualifying, you need to:
• Install certified low-flush toilets and urinals within 90 days of application approval.
• Legally dispose of your old fixtures.
• Submit your rebate request, along with your plumbing and supplier invoices and proof of installation.
• We may also require you to allow us to inspect your installation as part of our evaluation efforts.

When can I expect my rebate?
We will issue your rebate check within 30 days after we receive your completed Rebate Packet.
