American Crop Protection Association
The American Crop
Protection Association (ACPA) is a not-for-profit trade organization of U.S.
manufacturers, formulators and distributors of agricultural crop protection and pest
control products. ACPA members produce, sell, and distribute virtually all of the active
ingredients used in such products. ACPA leads industry efforts to: (1) promote sound
legislation and science-based regulation; (2) develop and maintain effective
communications by raising the level of public understanding of the value of crop
protection chemicals and other pesticides; (3) encourage the continued use of sound
science in the research, development and regulatory processes; and (4) address global
issues affecting the export and safe use of U.S. pesticide products abroad.
ACPA works with several companion organizations including: (1) Responsible Industry for
a Sound Environment (RISE) which works closely with national, regional, and local
associations to help inform the public about the many environmental, health, and safety
benefits which result from the proper use of specialty pesticides; (2) the Agricultural
Container Research Council, which is the cooperative effort of pesticide producers,
packagers, dealers, and distributors that promotes plastic container recycling through
education and the development of promotional materials and (3) the Agricultural Research
Institute, whose mission is to provide a forum for diverse public and private interests to
benefit from the exchange of information on research and research policy concerning
agriculture, food, natural resources, and environmental systems.
