Composting as a Suitable Technique for Managing Swine Mortalities
The Animal and Poultry Waste Management Center

Scientists demonstrated that composting can be a safe, efficient and sustainable method of disposing of swine carcasses. In demonstrations, the composting process disintegrated most of the carcasses, including most of the bones. Temperatures generated by the process were sufficient to kill disease viruses and Salmonella. There was little odor, and composting attracted few flies.
