Life Cycle Assessment

Life cycle assessment or LCA is a method for looking holistically at the environmental impacts of products or services from cradle top grave. Properly done, the outcome of a life cycle assessment is a science-based measure of environmental performance. It should include all the significant environmental impacts that are well enough understood to permit a linkage between human activities and environmental degradation.

For more information about LCA, view the FAQs, a slide presentation, or see a chapter from our book LCA for Mere Mortals.
