Action Target Cleaner shooting range technologies could be used fleet-wide. FASTT identified 5 activities, an example follows: Base armory maintains two shooting ranges. One range uses a soil embankment to collect slugs, the other uses walls of rubber blocks backed by concrete. The sites generate significant amounts of lead waste, contaminated soil, and contaminated rubber. Replacement bricks are no longer available for the rubber wall system, so it must be replaced entirely. An Action Target system is available which collects the slugs, uses a HEPA filter for lead dust, and leaves no contaminated collection media. Bomb Cart Fix The MHU 191/M (bomb cart) is used to move ordnance for weapons loading on aircraft. The front wheel assembly has a design flaw which allows sand to enter the brake housing. Dept. performs weekly maintenance on the carts though the required maintenance interval is 52 weeks. FASTT Team has designed and manufactured a dust seal for the carts. Other activities have already expressed interest in acquiring the new fix.
