Summary of Work Experience

Mr. Newsome has over 20 years of experience in the fields of electronics and electromechanical device development and troubleshooting. He has experience in aerosol sampling, generating, and analysis. He has worked in development and fabrication of various reactors, process systems, wind tunnel facilities, laser safety equipment, and numerous other areas requiring machine shop equipment and/or electronics experience.

Professional Experience

1987 to present. Research Triangle Institute, Research Triangle Park, NC.
Engineering Technician II. Fabricates electronic circuitry for particle suspension and observation. Designs and fabricates test set-ups in laboratory. Works in renovation and assembly of wind tunnel. Designs controls for laser safety interlocks. Fabricates various types of reactors. Develops and fabricates hardware and electronics in relation to environmental monitoring test (NHEXAS). Develops and fabricates portable PM-10 sampling system. Develops equipment and performs testing of ultraclean gas component testing for total hydrocarbon, H2O, and O2 contributions.

1978 to 1987. Amp Incorporated, Cary, NC.
Electronics Maintenance Technician. Maintained and upgraded control systems on highly specialized manufacturing machinery. The systems included programmable controllers, computer numerical controllers, digital logic, relay logic, pneumatic logic, stepping motor controls, temperature controls, and others. Originated and implemented modifications to machinery and processes to reduce manufacturing costs and increase efficiency.

1976 to 1978. A and B Electronics, Raleigh, NC.
Service Manager/Field Service Representative. Worked in customer relations and problem solving. Managed radio service department and trained radio technicians.

1976. Audio TV Center, Henderson, NC.
Television/Radio Service Technician. Performed electronic repairs and troubleshooting.
