The participants will

  • Identify treatment processes in the soil system.
  • Recognize benefits and limitations of soil?s ability to utilize manure.
  • Become aware of environmental issues surrounding manure addition to the soil.

Activities
The participants will

  • Estimate the size of a manure storage facility. Calculate the volume fractions of a manure storage facility.
  • Based on the loss and retention characteristics of the selelcted storage, estimate the nutrients available for land application.
  • Assess own storage for proper size, volume, and storage period.
