CUTTING PAPER - Browser Information

Browser Information

This site was designed to work well under:

Netscape Navigator 3.0 and later versions.

Internet Explorer 3.0 and later versions.

Earlier versions that do not support frames may produce odd results.  Use the 'Site Map' if you have an old browser.

Navigating this site

The pages in the four topic areas include a menu on the left for easy navigation.  Most pages include a bar along the bottom with a at the end.  This link will take you to the 'next' page, usually the next one in the order of the menu on the left.  Some of the tables break out of the frame/menu environment. To get the frames back, either use the browser's 'Back' button or go back to the home page and then to the topic area you want.

How to print these web pages

We hope that this information can be best used on-line, for the most part.  However, there are sometimes good reasons to want information on paper, including parts of this site.

Due to variations among browsers and printers, you may experience difficulty in printing frames.  Some browsers are not good at determining which frame you want to print.  In most browsers, click your mouse once in the frame you want to print to ensure that this is the 'active frame' (the active frame is the one that will be printed).

Many web pages are too wide to fit on a standard sheet and so the content ends up spread across several physical pages.  Content on multiple pages not only uses more paper, but is more difficult to use.  This problem of 'too-wide' pages often arises with tables, such as of product information.  One solution is to print them in 'landscape' format, which provides about 30% more width.  Another solution is to print the pages out at a reduced size (on a MacIntosh this is done in the Page Setup dialog box).  Both methods can be used together for very wide pages.

Check to see if your browser has the Print Frame option under the File menu.  With some browsers, you can print the entire page of multiple frames, and on some you can choose Print Preview first to see what will print.  On this site, all of the content is always in just one frame, so there is no need to print the entire page.
