Oil
Testing Laboratory
A
very exciting portion of our online course Pollution Prevention for
Automotive Facilities is an oil-testing lab.
Students will be using this lab to demonstrate the ability to extend of
the useful life of lubricants used in modern vehicles.
Through oil analysis students can observe the properties of the various
lubricants and predict when the real need to change that lubricant occurs.
After training students on the use of this equipment, we hope to expand
the oil analysis to other interested parties throughout the community.
Here is a table
stating the essential issues for industrial oil analysis as well as the direct
manner in which the 5200 mini-lab addresses these issues.

Furthermore the software has these important features:
- A475100 Mini-lab Module -- operates all CSI oil analysis instruments,
includes statistical alarm setting based on histogram for alarm limit sets,
includes sample reports with patented Trivector, customized trend reports
with patented Trivector, includes viscosity plot showing viscosity at all
temperatures from 0 to 100 C, includes NAS 1638 plot showing particle size
distribution in selected size ranges, includes ISO 4402/4406 plot showing
cumulative particle count size distribution, includes software expert which
determines logical observations and suggested actions based on measured
data.
- A475101 Lab Information Management System Module -- manage oil
analysis actions by batch of oil samples based on batch tested or batch
imported, includes customer address book with reporting preferences for each
report recipient, includes automatic report generation using pre-configured
report templates, includes assignment of customers as owners of equipment
and areas within the user database, includes manual data entry for non-CSI
manufactured instruments, and when used in conjunction with A475104 allows
operation of non-CSI manufactured oil analysis instruments via RS232.
- A475103 Wear Debris Analysis Module -- documents analysis of wear
debris and solid contaminants, includes multiple images per sample, captures
images from Twain-compatible devices, documents characteristics of up to
five groups of particles observed in each sample, assists the user with
automatic notes generated based on characteristics identified, includes
automatic report generation with one to six images per page.
- A475104 Instrument Communications module -- enables LIMS to
communicate with a non-CSI instrument via RS232.
