Hitachi Zosen Burner Type Ash Melting System

[Abstract]

Hitachi Zosen burner-type ash melting system is the newest ash melting equipment which is improved and developed by our own term on technical development since 1977. This system was designed to recycle ash as a resource together with big volume reduction and immobilization of ash.

[Structure]

A municipal waste incinerator ash is supplied into the melting furnace after a metal removal and a particle size conditioning by a metal detector, a screen and a shredder. The melting furnace consists of a preheating chamber and a melting chamber. The ash is heated at about 1400 deg.C and melted in the melting chamber after drying in the preheating chamber by a burner. A melting slag is water cooled and conveyed to a slag pit. Flue gas from the melting furnace is recovered heat at a gas air heater, and discharged from a stack through bag filter. Fly ash which is collected in the bag filter, is treated for immobilization of heavy metals with agent.

[Flow Diagram]

The following flow diagram is a typical case of application of Burner Type system.

[Features]

(1) Simple, fixed-type surface melting furnace
A large mechanical equipment is no longer necessary. Since the melting system does not have a basin, extra operation to discharge the molten metal is not necessary.

(2) Side-hole type slag discharge
Since the molten slag is discharged as a single flow from the slag hole, reliable continuous operation can be achieved without any plugging of the slag hole for a long time.

(3) High-efficiency, good-quality slag
The temperature in the furnace is set to high enough that it can be operated quietly, with a stable ash supply, and good-quality slag will be produced.

(4) Self-lining structure
The hearth, furnace wall and slag hole are water-cooled and self-lining, which reduce maintenance expenses.
