The charging section is provided with a twin-roll feeder which charges large size wastes to the shredding section as it compresses the wastes. This feeder features a function to adjust the distance between succeeding compressing units and also the feeding speed by means of remote-control operations.
The shredding section is provided with a high revolution type rotor and grates which are mounted around the rotor. Large size wastes, being fed by the twin-roll feeder, are struck by the hammer mounted on the rotor. The wastes are then pressed into the grid openings of the grates through the air gap between the rotor and the grates to be shredded into appropriate sizes and discharged downward from the grates. Fig. 1 shows the configuration of the shredder.

(2) The rotor features large inertial force to minimize the affect of load
fluctuations.
(3) A foreign matter discharge system is provided.
(4) A hammer-Pin puller is provided, which works by means of a hydraulic
cylinder.
(5) A vibration isolator is provided to absorb mechanical vibrations.
[General]
Large size wastes that are discharged from residential homes and factories include vast quantity of recyclable materials such as metals. In order for us to make such beneficial stuff possible to be dissoluted and recovered, it is necessary to shred those large size wastes down to minimum possible sizes to be classified. Type SH shredders are often used for this purpose in Japan. Photo 1 shows a typical appearance of this type of shredder.

Type SH shredder consists of two sections: first, a section which shred large size wastes down to some 15cm or less in size, and second, a section which charges large size wastes to the shredding section.

Type SH shredders have been employed and installed at almost 100 plants in Japan, and they are utilized for recycling of resources including metals.
