BULKY WASTE CRUSHER

1. Purpose

The BULKY WASTE CRUSHER is a rotary shredding machine designed of bulky and incombustible wastes. This machine crushes/shreds such wastes into pieces of sizes suitable for delivery after shredding, resource recovery, incineration and land fill .

2. Capacity

Wastes to be crushed/shredded by this machine includes metals (refrigerators with motor, washing machines, bicycles, steel furniture, etc.), home appliance products (televisions, radio cassettes, vacuum-cleaners, etc. ), plastics (polyethylene buckets, dishes, etc.), wooden products (furniture, building scrap wood, etc.), and others (tatami mats, tyres, auto bicycles, etc.).
Both the crushing/shredding capacity and performance largely depend on the types of the wastes and their mixing percentages. There are wide varieties of models available and the appropriate model having the capacity for the customer's requirements can be selected.

3. Features

Wastes are previously compressed through a caterpillar type compression feeder to feed uniform quantities of wastes to the shredder, thus allowing stable shredding. Also, a pushing device is located at the entrance to release clogged wastes.
In the shredding mechanism, wastes are crushed and shredded by comb cutter bars fixed on the shredder and by large and small hammers mounted on a rotor rotating at a speed of about 900 to 1000 rpm directly connected to a motor. The combined crushing/shredding force of shearing force, impact force, mashing force and other force is utilized. In addition, the unloading section uses grates of such construction as to prevent easy waste clogging.
The auxiliary facilities are also provided which include a steam anti - explosion system for improved safety and an automatic operation system for the shredder for simpler and more efficient operation.

- Steam anti-explosion system

This system prevents explosion of combustible gases present in specific wastes by blowing steam into the shredder and inactivating such gases. This system's features are the use of low- priced steam as inactive gas, and the introduction of pollution preventing measures, such as steam condensation and conversion into white smoke by using hot dry air heated with a steam air heater.
Fig. 1 shows a diagram of the system flow.
The fan (1) blows off air to the steam air heater (2) where the heated air (3) is then mixed with steam (4) and blown into the top (5) and bottom (6) of the shredder.
Also, a portion (7) of the air heated with the steam air heater (2) is blown into the entrance (8) and exit (9) and the dust collection line (10). The flow of steam is automatically adjusted by opening and closing the control valve (12) depending on the internal temperature (11) of the shredder.

- Automatic operation system for the shredder

Various sensors as well as picture processing are used to determine various status, such as what level of load is applied and how much wastes are being delivered .
And various drive units are automatically controlled for automatic operation.
This enables the user to switch from conventional manual operation to monitoring of automatic operation to ensure efficient crushing/shredding operation regardless of the experience and skill of the operating personnel.
Various sensors and picture processing are associated with various drive units controlled by their information as shown in Fig. 2.
This is a personal computer-base system and has high responsibility. Also, the automatic start and shutdown of the plant as the whole Bulky Waste Crushing Facility, as well as the self-start up of the steam anti-explosion system can be implemented.
