Conical Silo
-Storage System of dewatered Sewage Sludge-

Kobe Steel has conical shaped storage facilities of dewatered sewage sludge which enables to be stored in an odorless and environmentally safe manner.

[Structure]

Kobe Steel's conical silo system is designed for storing dewatered sludge with a solids content of a maximum of 40 %. The range of the standard size of the silo varies is in between 10 and 300 m3. The schematic drawing of the silo is shown in
Fig. 1.

There is a sludge discharging device above the flat silo bottom plate. The continuous moving of the rotor of the device activates the sludge to be discharged and carries it to the outlets, where it is extracted at least one extracting screw conveyor.

The rotor arranged inside bottom of the silo runs over the whole bottom of the silo, which can prevent the arching of stored sludge and allows almost complete discharge of the sludge from the silo

The discharging device and extracting screw conveyor are available with an option of electro-hydraulic or electro-mechanical drive.
