Waste Treatment Technology in JAPAN
Collection, Transportation and Storage
In this system, refuse is collected by a small collecting vehicle, namely a collector, and carried to the transfer station where the refuse is unloaded from the collector into a hopper and then via a refuse feeder automatically reloaded compactly into a large refuse container by means of a compactor. The fully loaded detachable refuse containers are transported to a final disposal site by a detachable-container truck called transporter.
Since each of the detachable containers contains four to eight times as much refuse as a collecting vehicle, trips of the trucks to the final disposal site is substantially reduced. The relieved traffic and reduced noise thereof may surely benefit the community in terms of the environmental protection.
2. Vermin breeding does not occur
Because of limited exposure of the refuse to the open air, flies and
mosquitoeshardly breed in the refuse.
3. High disposal work efficiency
Since the collection process is independent of the transportation process,
collecting vehicles are allowed to fully concentrate on the collection work.
In addition, because of the large capacity of the detachable container provided
at the transfer station that contains about four to eight times as much refuse
as a collecting vehicle, efficiency of the disposal work is much improved,
relieving substantially at the same time the car traffic.
(OUTLINE)
This is a new collection and transportation system for municipal refuse. In this system, collection and transportation of the municipal refuse are separately carried out, and moreover a modern transfer station is set up to facilitate collection and transportation of the refuse so that efficiency of the disposal work is remarkably enhanced.
(FEATURES)
1. Less scatter of refuse and emission of odors
Collected refuse is unloaded into a hopper and then directly reloaded into
a fully enclosed container for onward transportation, precluding the refuse
from scattering as well as odor against emitting.
