Vacuum Blaster

Equipment Description

Essentially a dry abrasive blasting process [e.g., sand, plastic media] with a vacuum system attached to the blast head to collect the media and the removed coating material (paint or rust). Unit separates the used media from the removed coating material. Remaining blast material is recycled for further use. Coating material is disposed. Systems can replace chemical stripping, with three added advantages. 1.) Collection of both the blasting media and the waste material being removed. 2.) Media is separated from the waste by a reverse pulse filter, and the media is reused in the system 3.) Confinement of the blast material makes use of system possible where sandblasting/chemical stripping is impractical.

Airborne dust is essentially eliminated using the vacuum system. In order for the vacuum system to be effective, the vacuum and blasting head must be kept in contact with the material being stripped of paint or corrosion. Training in the proper use of the equipment is essential. In addition, eye protection and hearing protection are recommended.

Benefits of Use

Improves safety by eliminating airborne particulates and potential lead dust exposure hazard; eliminates the need for respirators while blasting; separates materials, therefore, the blast media can be recycled. Nearby activities can continue without interruptions.
