Shooting Range Containment System

Equipment Description

Many shooting range bullet collection technologies have proven to be expensive to maintain and clean due to the contamination of collection media with lead and lead dust. Sand, water, rubber, and oil have all been used (sometimes in conjunction) in shooting range facilities. As it is coming to be time for many activities to upgrade their shooting ranges, the FASTT Team is advising adoption of new collection technologies. This is a self-contained, self-supporting bullet backstop for indoor or outdoor ranges. System traps and collects bullets without use of sand, water, rubber or oil while enhancing safety features found on earlier bullet collection technologies. Formal approval of shooting ranges is controlled through NAVFAC, Norfolk, Mr. Gibbons.

Benefits of Use

Use of sand, water, rubber and/or oil in bullet traps at range facilities make for difficult & costly hazardous waste disposal. New containment systems eliminate waste streams. A total containment system eliminates the splatter and ricochet of rounds, collects slugs, cuts down on lead dust with HEPA filters, leaves no hazardous by-products, and lowers shooting range servicing costs dramatically.
