Oberlin Pressure Filter

Equipment Description

An effluent treatment technology which uses pressure filters to pre-treat hydroblast water for sewer discharge through diatomaceous earth to remove metals such as copper and zinc from the effluent. The system operates on a batch basis. An upper compartment (filter platen) and lower compartment (filtrate chamber) separated by Tyvek filter fabric. Influent water pumped onto the platen, drained through. When filter pressure reaches 30 to 50 psi, the filter cake and medium are dried with pressurized air. Filter cake disposed of off site.

Benefits of Use:

Used in conjunction with a regimen of epoxy-coating the CHT piping on naval vessels, the effluent treatment pressure filters would significantly reduce the metal discharges from sanitary sewage and oily waste effluent.
