Equipment Description
Halotron
I and Sodium Bicarbonate fire extinguishers are widely available. Halotron
I units use HCFC-123, a Halon clean agent replacement that is UL listed
and applicable to Electronics (PCs, telephone switch gear, electrical
equipment, vehicles). NaHCo3 units employ BC standard dry chemical
compounds as the extinguishing media.
Benefits of Use
Units
do not contain ODS compounds and can be used on class A, B & C fires.
Neither Halotron I nor Sodium Bicarbonate units are known to cause damage
to electronics as do the PKP extinguishers currently used throughout many
activities.
