Dry
Filter Paint Booth Conversion
|
As
amended, the Federal Clean Air Act mandates new high standards governing
acceptable emissions from industrial facilities. These include overspray
particulates which must be virtually eliminated from vented air.
Equipment
Description
Four
types of dry filters are currently used: fiberglass cartridges, multi-layer
honeycombed paper rolls or pads, accordion-pleated paper sheets, and cloth
rolls or pads. A metal framework is erected to replace the water curtain.
Dry filter media in the framework removes airborne particulates in paint
booth overspray. When the filter media is loaded, it is replaced with new
filter media, and the old may be disposed of as solid waste, depending on
the type of paint. This conversion eliminates the need for wastewater treatment
and disposal. It also reduces overall paint booth operating and maintenance
costs.
Benefits
of Use
Eliminates
use of wastewater treatment chemicals. Improves collection efficiency. Reduces
operating costs. Reduces maintenance costs by eliminating water pumping
system. Eliminates water overflows and clean-ups. Eliminates removal or
daily skimming of paint sludge from water reservoir.
