SITUATION: |
Bristol Brass and Copper manufactures decorative brass and copper housewares
in a 35,000-square-foot plant in Bristol, Tennessee. The company was planning
to buy a new building and wanted an evaluation of their electrical service
needs. |
PROJECT: |
The company was in the process of expanding operations and purchasing
a former weaving plant. They needed information on how to get the 550-volt
power supply to the plant reduced to 220 volts. The Oak Ridge Centers for
Manufacturing Technology provided a consultant to tour the plant and make
a report with specific recommendations. |
RESULTS: |
The recommendations are being implemented, and the company will
move to the new and larger location and follow through with plans to double
their employment in 36 months.
Randy Coleman, Bristol Brass and Copper president and chief executive
officer, describes the Oak Ridge Centers for Manufacturing Technology assistance
as "quick and informative." |
