Certified Performance Claim:

"The technology is certified for treating cans containing paints and hydrocarbon lubricants and cleaners. Field test results show that the Katec Aerosolv® System treated hazardous waste aerosol cans to an average of less than 3% residual contents with paint products and a Corrosion Preventative Compound product. The system also captures at least 83.2% of the liquid and gaseous contents removed from these aerosol can products. The collected liquids and contaminated carbon must be classified as hazardous waste or non-hazardous waste and managed accordingly. Air emissions resulting from the process are subject to regulation by the local air pollution control or air quality management district."

Technology Description:

The technology punctures and drains waste aerosol cans while collecting their liquid contents in a storage drum and treating gases and vapors with a carbon filter. Treated waste aerosol cans are recycled as scrap metal. The system consists of four components: the Aerosolv® Puncturing Unit, a 55-gallon liquid collection drum (supplied by the user), a coalescing filter and flexible hose, and a carbon canister.
