Certified Performance Claim:

"The Goal Line Environmental Technologies LLC’s SCONOx™ catalytic system demonstrated emissions of oxides of nitrogen of 2.0 parts per million (ppm) volume dry (15 percent oxygen, 3-hour rolling average) for a 34-megawatt, LM2500 natural gas-fired combined-cycle turbine employing water injection. The SCONOx™ system does not use ammonia injection; therefore, it is not expected to produce ammonia slip. This certification is subject to the conditions in Air Resources Board Executive Order G-096-029-013."

Technology Description:

SCONOx™ uses a potassium carbonate (k2CO3) coated catalyst to reduce oxide of nitrogen emissions from natural gas fired, water injected, turbines. The catalyst oxidizes carbon-monoxide (CO) to carbon-dioxide (CO2), and nitric oxide (NO) to nitrogen-dioxide (NO2). The CO2 is exhausted while the NO2 absorbs onto the catalyst to form potassium nitrites (KNO2) and potassium nitrates (KNO3). Dilute hydrogen gas is passed periodically across the surface of the catalyst to regenerate the K2CO3 coating. The regeneration cycle converts the KNO2 and KNO3 to K2CO3, water, and elemental nitrogen. The K2CO3 is thereby made available for further absorption and the water and nitrogen are exhausted.

Technology Application:

Goal Line Environmental Technologies, LLC has developed the SCONOx™ Catalytic Absorption System. SCONOx™ is designed to reduce oxide of nitrogen emissions from natural gas-fired turbine engines operating in a range of 300o F to 700o F. The gas-fired engines are used in electric power plants.
