Opportunities

Call for presentations
You're invited to give a presentation-as part of a panel, poster, or interactive poster session-at the Eighth National Technology Information Exchange (TIE) Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on April 16-18, 1996. You can present your environmental restoration and waste management successes and lessons learned. Sponsored by the DOE Office of Environmental Restoration, the TIE Workshop is your opportunity to meet with your peers to find answers to your environmental restoration problems or to share your solutions.

The panel discussions include a 15-minute talk by each of the four or five panel members, followed by short periods of open "shoptalk" involving workshop participants. Interactive poster sessions involve a ten-minute talk by each poster presenter, followed by a period of open discussion. The "regular" poster session requires no formal talk, but you're expected to staff your poster during the two scheduled sessions-on the evening of April 16 and mid-day on April 17. All presentations should focus on lessons learned or case studies of actual work being done, where applicable. Presentation abstracts are due November 3.

For information on topic areas and registration, call Evelyn Wight at (540) 231-3532, or Susan Bixler at (540) 231-3569. Facility will support small business ventures in Central and Eastern Europe
The Central and Eastern Europe Business Information Center has opened a Small Business Support Facility. The facility helps small businesses take steps toward exporting technology to Central and Eastern Europe.

With the help of the facility, small businesses first learn how to identify trade opportunities, initiate contact, and continue communication with potential partners in Europe. Next, the facility helps locate financial resources. CEEBIC's close contact with the Small Business Administration and the Export-Import Bank offers clients the resource of the financing programs managed by these two organizations. CEEBIC provides assistance until the project is up and running. Only small businesses that have been in operation for at least 12 months may apply for the program.

If you would like more information about CEEBIC's Small Business Support Facility, or you would like an application, contact:
