Foreword

Not all of the data in this report are the direct result of my work. The original data were obtained by other researchers and engineers from their long and difficult research effort. The purpose of this project is to provide an overall perspective for waste tire recycling and to clarify the position and possibility of each waste tire recycling technology. In this report, I intend to present a road map for waste tire recycling. The current situation and problems associated with the recycling of waste tires are presented.
I have cited the data sources as precisely as possible. The on-line version of this report enables direct access to the original source and related online documents and web sites.
Of course, the use and interpretation of the data and the opinions expressed are my responsibility.

Since this graduate study was my first experience in the United States, I would like to thank the following persons for both academic and personal support.
First, I am very grateful to my research advisor, Dr. Michael E. Ryan, for his support and encouragement throughout the research. I also would like to thank all of the faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering, who gave me the opportunity and motivation for graduate study. I owe a lot to my friends with various backgrounds, J.M.Stanek, A.C.Butera and others in the UB law school and Dr. R.D.Manning at Georgetown University.  They introduced me to the real America and kept encouraging me in various points.
If any of them were not there, I could not have completed any graduate studies.
Oh! and the awesome Niagara River gave me a wonderful opportunity for fly fishing.

All I've done is give you a book. You have to have the courage to learn what's inside it.
