Canada:
It is very difficult to separate the economic and tire recycling activity between Canada and the U.S.
The economic and technological alternatives are essentially the same across North America.

Japan:
102 million waste tires were generated in 1997. Of these, approximately 91 %  were reused in some way;
51 % of collected waste tires were used as TDF, 17 % were exported, 12 % were recycled into new materials. 8 % were retreaded, and 3 % were classified as miscellaneous.

EU:
In Britain, 36 % of non retreadable tires are sent to landfills, 29 % are left on vehicles in scrapyards, 21 % are incinerated in cement kilns, and 8 % are exported.
In France, 77 % of waste tires are landfilled or incinerated, 13 % are retreaded, and 10 % are recycled into new materials2).
As can be seen from the above examples, in Europe, most waste tires are sent to landfills or are incinerated.

Australia:
No precise data for waste tire management are available, but interest in for waste tire recycling technologies is high.
