Abstract: About 500,000 used rubber tires were utilized in developing a lightweight bridge approach embankment of the Androscoggin River Bridge. The bridge was part of a bypass project in Topsham and Brunswick in Maine. The Topsham-Brunswick Bypass was constructed to relieve traffic congestion and provide highway link in these areas. The bypass involves the construction of railroad overpass bridge, improvement of 4.4 km highway and the construction of the 335-m-long bridge and multilevel interchange connection. Article A20431228
