Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities, Feb 1996 v10 n1 p41(1) Closure. (response to Imad A. Basheer, Yacoub M. Najjar and Robert W. Day in this issue, p. 40) Paul S.H. Poh; Bengt B. Broms. Abstract: Connecting the rubber tire wall to the geotextile reinforcement would not improve the wall's stability because the stability of the wall is dependent only on the tensile strength of the geotextile. The role of the rubber tires is to protect the geotextile from vandalism and fire and as support to the backfill between each anchor level. An alternative to placing the drainage system behind the geotextile is to put the drainage layers below the geotextile. The geotextile would then function as a filter for water that might clog the drainage layers. Article A18075610
