BioCycle, March 1996 v37 n3 p35(3) Good year for tire recovery. (recycling tires) Abstract: The recovery of scrap tires in the US is increasing with the growing demands due to new found applications in agriculture, civil engineering and an increase in ground rubber usage. In 1995, 69% of the total scrap tires were recovered. Tire pipe structures, marine fenders, rubber pads, and cow bedding for dairy farms are made from recycled scrap tires. Tire-derived fuel is used in pulp and paper mills, power plants and for electric utilities. Many companies such as Eastern Iowa Tire Recyclers Inc., American Tire Recyclers and F&B Enterprises are involved in tire recycling. Article A18359530
