                Tire shred guidelines minimize fires. (scrap tire recycling)

            Abstract: Scrap tire recycling plants are being encouraged to abide 
            by industry guidelines to reduce the risk of fire in tire shred 
            fills. The Ad Hoc Civil Engineering Committee's Design Guidelines to 
            Minimize Internal Heating of Tire Shred Fills were drawn up after 
            several fires broke out in 1995. Recommendations for tire shred size 
            and wood chips are given, together with design suggests for fill 
            dimensions.
