                Scrap tire market analysis. Michael Blumenthal. 
            Abstract: A scrap tire market survey, conducted under the auspices 
            of the Scrap Tire Management Council, reveals up to 850 million 
            stockpiled scrap tires, of which the majority may go into production 
            of tire derived fuel. However, the business outlook appears more 
            bright for ground rubber products and civil engineering materials 
            made out of whole/shredded scrap tires. Ground rubber finds 
            application in bound rubber products, new tire manufacturing, rubber 
            modified asphalt, athletics and injection molded products. Scrap 
            tyres may be processed at a cost comparable to soil cost when used 
            as fill materials.
