Participant Requirements
- Sign MOU agreeing to complete upgrades within 5 years
- Perform trial upgrade within 180 days
- Report results to EPA.
Energy Star Programs
Program Goals
Encourage the manufacture and sale of energy-efficient personal computers, monitors, printers and fax machines that save energy by powering down and going to "sleep" when not being used in order to save money and prevent pollution.
Who Can Participate
- Manufacturers of computer components and equipment (PCs, monitors, printers, fax machines, component "allies")
- All purchasers of computer equipment
- Corporations
- Federal/State/Local Government
- Health Care Facilities
- Colleges and Universities
- Small Businesses.
Participant Requirements
- Manufacturers sign MOU agreeing to make an Energy Star compliant product.
- Purchasers sign an Energy Star Purchasing Policy committing to buy solely Energy Star equipment.
Natural Gas STAR Program
Program Goals
Encourage natural gas companies to adopt "best management practices (BMPs)" that can profitably reduce emissions of methane gas.
Who Can Participate?
- Natural Gas Industry--Gas Transmission Companies
- Gas Distribution Companies, & Gas Producers.
Participant Requirements
- Sign MOU agreeing to review and implement BMPs as appropriate
- Submit implementation plan within 6 months
- Implement plan over next 3 years. Appoint implementation manager.
- Document progress annually. Work with EPA to publicize successes.
AgSTAR Program
Program Goals
Encourage the use of effective technologies to capture methane gas generated from the decomposition of animal waste, for use as an onfarm energy resource.
Who Can Participate?
- Livestock producers
- Utilities
- Agriculture and Energy Industries
- Professional and Trade Associations
- Colleges and Universities
- Institutions
- Societies
- Governmental sectors.
Participant Requirements
- Partners-Livestock producers willing to install methane recovery systems.
- Allies-Companies in agriculture and energy industries, and professional and trade associations, colleges and universities, and institutions, who work with Partners to develop and support methane recovery systems.
- Utility Allies-Electric utilities that work with Partners to provide fair rates on backup energy systems and/or the buy back of electricity generated through methane recovery.
- Endorser-Professional and trade associations, colleges and universities, institutions, and societies who support and encourage the use of renewable energy sources and promote the principals of program.

Provide free networking, technical, and marketing tools designed to ensure that lighting upgrades will result in the greatest possible energy savings, the maintained or improved lighting quality, and the highest possible return on investment (at least 20% IRR).
