Division of Water Resources

Environmental Sustainability

  • Division of Water Resources (DWR) has programs which contribute to Sustainability such as the Water Conservation Plan, which is geared to water suppliers, including leak detection and water audits practices.   Project WET is another program which includes activities on educating the public and meeting the publics needs for water conservation.
  • DWR’s Capacity Use Permitting program monitors water usages and consumption for better management, which helps in planning drought management.
  • DWR is host to “Stream Watch”, which is the Adopt-a-Stream activities for improved cleanup and maintenance of streams.
  • DWR Central Office participates in the Archdale Building Recycling Program.  The New Bern office has implemented its own recycling program with the city of New Bern’s recycling activities.
  • DWR uses its web site and electronic e-mailing to reduce the amount of paper generated by the Division.
