1999 Progress Report Web Site: www.state.nc.us/pandc Electronic updates to the purchasing manual and to the N.C. Administrative Code are published on the web site. Commodity code listings, vendor actions, division assignments, and other useful information is disseminated in this fashion, eliminating paper copies and mailing costs for these items. To keep state agencies abreast of current activities, e-mail communication lists are used.

Interactive Purchasing System (IPS)
IPS is a business registry and bid notification system where companies are notified by e-mail of procurement opportunities in which they are interested. Project implementation occurred on schedule and has been welcomed by state agencies and the vendor community. More than 11,000 businesses have registered in Vendor Link NC, the business registry portion of IPS.
Project Advantages
- Requests for copies of bids have been reduced from 20 per day to 2 per day
- Paper use has been reduced because vendors print only bids of interest to them
- Mailing costs are reduced
