Other Cleaning-related
Internet Sites
SOLVENT SUBSTITUTION DATA SYSTEMS PAGE
This page is located on the Enviro$en$e
site (described below) and contains connections to several major solvent
alternative databases. The databases are useful for cleaning alternative ideas as well as solvent substitution ideas for other processes such as paint stripping.
The page also contains a search utility called the Integrated Solvent
Substitution Data System (ISSDS). The ISSDS allows the user to search a number of solvent substitution databases and libraries, including a vendor database, simultaneously.
The other major solvent databases available through this page are the
Solvents Alternative Guide (SAGE) created by
Research Triangle Institute and the
Hazardous Solvent Substitution
Data System created by the
Idaho National Engineering Laboratory.
LINKS TO SOLVENT SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION WITHIN ENVIRO$EN$E
This is a Frequenly Asked Questions list, and the fifth question asks
how to find solvent substitution information and provides links
to a number of pertinent documents within the
Enviro$en$e site (described below).
SCCO2 CLEANING RESEARCH
This page describes the research efforts and accomplishments at Sandia National Laboratory related to SCCO2 cleaning.
ENVIRONMENTAL VENDOR DATABASE
The database available through this page is searchable via a link on the Enviro$en$e site (described below). The user is given a list of potential vendors based on a keyword search. The database was created by the University of Wisconsin's Solid and Hazardous Waste Education Center.
ENVIRO$EN$E
Enviro$en$e, funded by the Environmental
Protection Agency and the
Strategic Environmental
Research and Development Program, allows those implementing pollution
prevention programs or developing research and development projects to benefit
from the experience, progress, and knowledge of their peers. This is one of the
single largest pollution prevention related resources available on the Internet.
Users will find everything from case studies to copies of newsletters to
cleaning information. A number of government funded efforts are tied together on
this one site. Many of the specific cleaning-related resources available through
this site are discussed above.
Enviro$en$e is also modem accessible via a
Bulletin Board System (BBS).
ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING PRODUCTIVITY FACILITY
The Electronics Manufacturing Productivity Facility (EMPF) works to help transfer the latest manufacturing technologies to the electronics manufacturing industry. The web site includes online access to much of the EMPF library, a technical Helpline, and information about courses offered at the EMPF Learning Center and Demonstration Factory. The EMPF has conducted research on aqueous cleaning and no-clean approaches in electronics manufacturing. You may search both the web site and the library by keyword.
CLEANING NESHAP DECISION TREE
This page contains a decision tree for helping users determine their
requirements under the National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for halogenated solvent cleaning.
SOLVENTS, THE ALTERNATIVES PART 1 AND
SOLVENTS, THE ALTERNATIVES PART 2
This report provides a good overview of solvent cleaning and possible
alternatives, similar to some of the content on the PPRC's aqueous cleaning
pages. It also includes a set of useful tables at the end of the report that
describe cleaning solvent properties and vendor information.
WASTE REDUCTION RESOURCE CENTER LIBRARY DOWNLOAD PAGE
Users can download the library database of the
Waste Reduction Resource Center
(WRRC) at this site in either Pro-Cite database, Word, Wordperfect, or ASCii
format. The library's holding (over 7,000 volumes) are very useful for
cleaning-related research. The research done by the PPRC on aqueous cleaning
made use of the WRRC's library.
