Gaps in No-Clean Research
No-clean flux research to date have been quite extensive. In addition, it is an extremely active area of research now and will continue to be in the near future. This made it difficult to conclusively identify gaps in the work being done. One area that the authors believe could use more work is developing more detailed cost assessments of making a conversion to no-clean fluxes. As mentioned above, detailed cost assessments do not appear to be available for this technology. Detailed cost assessments can help other companies understand not only the true economics associated with a process but also what changes in operations need to be made.
