ACI Glass Packaging recognises that cleaner production practices are an integral part of ACI's business, and that environmental improvement is an ongoing process.

Looking to a Cleaner Future

A number of projects have been earmarked for assessment at ACI Glass Packaging:

Waste Water Minimisation

Aim:

• Identify all cost-effective means of reducing the effluent load
  
• Examine plant water consumption including the separation of industrial and domestic waste waters, cullet water arising from process oil/water streams, spillage and leakage.

Solid Waste Minimisation and Recycling Project

Aim:

• Investigate potential for reducing generation of solid waste
  
• Identify means of reutilising solid waste in its different forms.

Operating Practices and Review

Aim:

• Examine current operating practices relating to storage, labelling, transport and disposal of chemicals and waste.

Training and Housekeeping

Aim:

• Improve environmental awareness of site management and operating staff
• Develop a strategy to sustain long-term gains in this area.
