- Youth Presenter Training Program
Prince William County Litter Control Council
This program trains volunteers to give presentations to youths. It consists of three parts: a two-hour initial training, viewing a presentation and conducting a presentation. Contact PWCLCC for scheduling information.

- Think Earth
Department of Environmental Quality
This package, suitable for third- through seventh-graders, focuses on reducing waste and reducing pollution from waste. Students learn about trash and wastewater and related environmental problems. Includes a video, three posters, blackline masters for reproducing and eight lessons. Contact DEQ to borrow kit for two weeks.
- Environmental activity boxes
Prince William County Litter Control Council
This set of eight boxes contains information and materials for hands-on lessons about litter and other environmental topics. Available for loan to Prince William County teachers only. Contact PWCLCC to reserve.
- Cycles for science kit
Steel Recycling Institute
Five high school curriculum units with experiments and real-life applications for physics, chemistry, biology, earth science and community volunteer projects. Contact SRI for ordering instructions.

These tours for students and adults at local grocery store promote awareness of smart shopping. Call PWCLCC for information.
- Solid waste management and recycling facilities tours
Southeastern Public Service Authority
Student and adult groups may tour the landfill, waste-to-energy system, and various recycling facilities, including tire shredder, composting facilities, ferrous metal and a waste transfer station in the South Hampton Roads area. No fee, contact SPSA's public information office to arrange a tour date.
- Recycle America material recovery facility tour
Waste Management of Hampton Roads
Groups may tour a 1,000-plus tons per day recycling sorting plant. The program includes a presentation and shows container and paper sorting lines. No charge; call WMHR to schedule tour. Visitors must wear hard-soled shoes.

- Clean Valley Council speaker
Clean Valley Council
A speaker/educator is available to speak on a variety of topics including recycling, litter control, household hazardous waste, environmental shopping or marine debris. Programs are free to groups within the Roanoke Valley; travel expenses are required to visit classrooms outside the Roanoke Valley.
- Environmental education fellow
Department of Environmental Quality
A travelling teacher and curriculum planner to help school systems align their environmental education efforts to to the new Standards of Learning. Call DEQ for an application form.
- Speakers bureau
Prince William County Litter Control Council
Speakers are available for groups in Prince William County to discuss topics such as litter, recycling, waste reduction, hazardous waste and environmental shopping. No charge; please call at least two weeks in advance to schedule.
- Solid waste education presentation
Southeastern Public Service Authority
A classroom presentation for K-12 on the 3R's of waste management, how trash is managed in the community, and the individual's role in environmental protection. Free to schools in southeastern Virginia. Contact SPSA.
- Recycling in the VPPSA region
Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority
Presentations are available to groups of all ages on the Lower Peninsula and Middle Peninsula on a variety of topics related to recycling and solid waste management. No charge; call VPPSA at least two weeks in advance to schedule.

A list of lesson plans, by grade level, from several curriculum supplements and correlated to the new Standards of Learning. Also includes a list of more than 50 curriculum guides. Call DEQ for a free copy. Multiple copies are available also.

- Business Recycling Guide

This 14-page guide gives step-by-step instructions for setting up an office paper recycling program. Available for $2 from RACV.

- Business Waste Recycling

This 18-minute video describes the steps involved in starting a school or business recycling program. Available from CVC for $22, plus $2 shipping. Virginia residents must add Virginia 4.5 percent sales tax.
- The Clean Game
Prince William County Litter Control Council
This is a 25-minute video of an environmental quiz game between teens from three jurisdictions in Prince William County. Contact PWCLCC. Available for loan free of charge to Prince William County residents.

- Pollution prevention library

A library containing videos, publications and posters pertaining to pollution prevention and innovative technologies that result in reducing wastes at the source of generation. Call DEQ - OPP for a list of titles, including running time for videos and year of production. Videos are available free on loan for three weeks; users must pay return postage.

- Woodsy Owl Pollution Patrol Badge Program
Prince William County Litter Control Council
This program is a booklet of pollution prevention activities for children. Children must complete 10 of the activities to receive a certificate, badge and membership card. Prince William County residents may contact PWCLCC for a copy of the activity booklet.
