Six pages of hands-on activities for elementary school students teach an

The Acid Rain Foundation
Provides a general overview and glossary on acid rain. Can be used
independently or in conjunction with interdisciplinary curriculum. For grades
four through eight. Single copies available for $2.50 each, plus $3.50

Great Explorations in Math and Science
A collection of eight activities for grades six through 10 that combines
scientific inquiry and critical thinking as students learn about acids, how pH
changes after a rainstorm, conduct experiments, and present a play about the
effects on aquatic life. Cost is $11, plus $1.50 shipping. Quantity discounts

A classroom guide for eighth through 12th grades with lesson plans on indoor
and outdoor air pollution developed by ALA of Tennessee in support of Clean Air

- Project A.I.R.E.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Project AIRE is an environmental and health K-12 curriculum program developed
by EPA that is intended to be taught with ALAV and EPA staff as guest speakers
in elementary, middle and high school classes. Free. Contact EPA regional

This bimonthly newsletter features information on the Washington regional

National Wildlife Federation
This 15-minute filmstrip for elementary and middle school students explains
what causes air pollution and describes what is being done to control it. It
also explains the problem of acid rain. Available from NWF for $5. Also
